Belitung Moves Closer: New Flights and “Connect to Reconnect” Redefine Island Travel

The Belitung Archipelago is stepping into a new chapter of accessibility and sustainable tourism, as Scoot launches direct flights from Singapore to Belitung starting 3 May 2026.

At the heart of this evolution is Tanjung Kelayang Reserve, introducing its “Connect to Reconnect” concept—an invitation to experience travel at a slower, more meaningful pace.

A New Way to Experience Belitung

Far from crowded beach hotspots, Belitung offers a different rhythm. Towering granite formations, scattered island clusters, and calm turquoise waters create a landscape that unfolds gradually.

Rather than a one-time destination, Tanjung Kelayang Reserve positions itself as a place to return, rediscover, and reconnect—where each visit reveals new layers of the island’s character.

Direct Access from Singapore

With the new Scoot route, Belitung becomes one of the most accessible emerging destinations in Southeast Asia:

Launch Date: 3 May 2026

Frequency: Twice weekly (Wednesday & Sunday)
Flight Time: ~1 hour
Departure (SIN): 05:45 → Arrival (Belitung): 06:15
Return: 06:50 → Arrival (SIN): 09:30

This early schedule allows travellers to begin exploring immediately upon arrival.

To mark the launch, Tanjung Kelayang Reserve is offering:

  • Guaranteed early check-in
  • Breakfast on arrival
  • Seamless airport transfers

Sustainable Destination at Its Core

Spanning 350 hectares, the reserve sits within the Belitung UNESCO Global Geopark, where over 50% of the land is protected.

This balance between development and preservation defines the experience, supported by premium hospitality such as Sheraton Belitung Resort.

Culture That Lives On

Beyond nature, Belitung’s charm lies in its culture:
Warung Kopi Ake, established in 1911, remains a cornerstone of local coffee culture
Sepiak Belitong transforms island heritage into contemporary textile design

These elements offer travellers a deeper connection to the island’s identity—beyond just scenery.

A Growing Global Destination

Belitung is also entering the global sports tourism scene with Gran Fondo New York Indonesia, set for 21 June 2026.

Part of an international endurance cycling series, the event highlights the island’s scenic coastal routes and expanding tourism infrastructure.

A New Gateway for Mindful Travel

With improved connectivity and a strong sustainability vision, Belitung is emerging as an alternative to over-touristed destinations in the region.

Tanjung Kelayang Reserve continues to lead this transformation—offering a destination where nature, culture, and community evolve together.

About Tanjung Kelayang Reserve

Tanjung Kelayang Reserve is a 350-hectare sustainable tourism estate located on the northern coast of Belitung Archipelago, Indonesia. More than half of its land and marine area is designated as protected forests, coral reefs, and granite headlands within the Belitung UNESCO Global Geopark.

Established as part of Indonesia’s Special Economic Zone (SEZ) for tourism, the Reserve
serves as a model for regenerative development, integrating conservation, culture, and
community participation. Accessible via direct flights from Jakarta and Singapore, the Reserve offers a rare balance of seclusion and connectivity, positioning Belitung as an emerging gateway for mindful island travel beyond Indonesia’s primary entry points.

Through partnerships with local stakeholders and responsible operators, Tanjung Kelayang Reserve supports habitat restoration, heritage preservation, and meaningful visitor engagement. Its mission is to nurture a self-sustaining destination where nature, people, and purpose coexist in balance, reaffirming Belitung’s place as one of Indonesia’s most compelling eco-travel frontiers.
