Cultural Foundations, Contemporary Vision: HKS’ Architectural Masterpiece Reimagines Luxury Hospitality in Yining, Xinjiang

Interdisciplinary global design firm HKS delivers an immersive experience shaped by 40 cultures and the spirit of the Silk Road with the opening of the Huamei Resort Yining InterContinental and EVEN Hotel Complex in July 2025.

August 2025 - Award-winning architecture firm HKS proudly announces the completion of the meticulously designed InterContinental Yining Hotel at Huamei Resort Yining InterContinental and EVEN Hotel Complex, an aspirational destination celebrating the rich mosaic of 40 ethnic cultures through an immersive courtyard experience. 

Set against the backdrop of the majestic Ili River and the distant Tianshan Mountains, the project officially launches this July, unveiling a landmark where architectural sophistication and cultural narrative seamlessly converge. 

Developed by China Green Development Group (CGDG) and designed by HKS, the new resort development spans over 65,000 square meters and encompasses the InterContinental Hotel, EVEN Hotel, and a multi-functional convention center, setting a new benchmark for luxury hospitality in Xinjiang.



Design Rooted in Culture, Framed by Nature

At the heart of the architectural vision lies the “River Valley Courtyard”, a concept that reimagines the timeless courtyard traditions of Ili’s folk houses for a contemporary luxury setting. 

HKS drew inspiration from the region’s vernacular architecture, adopting a distinctive “品”-shaped layout, a nod to Yining’s traditional residential structures.
